All Politics Are Local ... Except When They're Not

The Governorships of Virginia and New Jersey have passed on to the Republican Party, and already the spin-meisters on the left are trying to downplay the election results.

Very interesting that even though all the President's men, as well as our CEO and Chief campaigned for the Democratic losers in these states, the WH and media are proclaiming that this was not a referendum on President Obama's policies. They claim that Tip O'Neill was correct when he stated that "all politics is local".

Actually, except for the grammar, the former speaker was correct in his assumption. The problem for the Democrats is that the policies of the sitting President effect the ENTIRE NATION. So we now have 50 local states that are hurting. This does not bode well for the Democrats in the 2010 mid-term elections. This also does not bode well for the President's Health Care over-haul. Democrats in conservative districts will be running as far away from any new administration policy in the hope of saving their jobs next November (remember ... every seat in the House is up for re-election next year).

Republicans, don't start feeling too happy with yourselves just yet. The policies of the previous administration, along with the spend-thrift ways of the GOP-led Congress helped get us into this predicament. Republicans can't be seen as just politicians that oppose everything that the Democrats try to do. They must have their own plans for bringing this Nation back to prosperity, based upon Conservative economic principles. Right now the GOP has a chance to win back the support of the Nation ... but I fear that they will just waste it as usual. We need a new "Contract with America". Where is the next Newt Gingrich?

Can Hillary Drink Her Way To The White House?

Whoever said that President Bush was a party animal, never hung out with Senator Clinton. Pictures found on Hillary's my space page show that she is the original "Party Girl". Whether it is shots and beer in Indiana or a bottle of Presidente beer in Puerto Rico ... This chick knows how to party down.

Can you imagine the election party if she gets elected? I hear special beer funnels have been ordered in anticipation of her election. Both the funnels and beer kegs will have the Presidential seal emblazoned boldly upon them.

But seriously, what in the world is she thinking? Does she think that by swilling beer and shots she will be able to win the vote of the typical hard-working middle class American? I actually think this is insulting to your average American. We want someone who is better than us in the White House ... I wouldn't trust the average American with their finger on the button.

Lest I forget to pile on to Obama, the presumptive nominee flew into El Paso yesterday and hopped in his motorcade for Las Cruces, NM without stopping at all. Who cares if El Paso has a population of over 600,000 and Las Cruces has a population of only 86,000. Obama and his wife don't seem to want the votes of this heavily Democratic city. Neither Michelle or Barrack have deigned to visit our fair city, but both have been to Las Cruces. Former President Clinton has been here twice, Chelsea once and Hillary kicked off her Texas campaign here. Is it any wonder that Clinton got 70% of the vote here in the primary and 90% of the caucus delegates. To add insult to injury ... Barrack decided to send a surrogate to El Paso. Now, El Paso has a population that is 76.2% Hispanic ... so who did he choose to send??? George Lopez!!! Hispanics I have asked about this were very insulted, they love George Lopez as a comedian ... but felt that maybe Bill Richardson would have been a better choice.

Post Number 100

I never thought that I would ever be posting my 100th post. As the numbers crept up from 95 ... 96 ... 97, well you get my drift ... I started panicking about what I would actually write. Though I don't take myself very seriously, I do take this blog seriously ... so what would be a worthy post for the big 100. It was a toss-up between abortion and education (both extremely worthy subjects that had only been lightly touched upon in this blog), till I had an epiphany and got pissed off. Well, this blog has always been about things that piss me off, so I shelved abortion and education (but I promise, they will both rear their ugly heads later on). But first, I would like to share with you how a came about this revelation.

On Sunday afternoon, I found myself sitting in the wonderful Cinqo Estrella (5 Star) Cantina. As I watched the Cowboy game ... secretly wishing for the Patriots to win, I found myself thinking about my previous post entitled, "What Were They Thinking?". I was still ... two days later wondering about the answer to that question. I had just imbibed my first two beers of the year and was feeling pretty good though a little light headed. I thought about how the region around the Ottoman Empire had been for the past 3,000 years, with warfare between the Turks, and the Kurds, and the Armenians, the Greeks, the Austrian-Hungarian Empire ... the rampant massacres, rapes and pillaging that took place ... sometimes the Turks were on the giving end ... at other times they were on the receiving end of the sword. So why did Congress single them out ... but not the Greeks? As my thoughts turned to Greece, a strange feeling overtook my Michelob fuzzy head, and Dionysus whacked me with this epiphany. This was a back-door play by the Democratic controlled Congress to sabotage our war effort. As I began to write, the muse Caliope guided my fingers on the keypad to make this 100th post one that is worthy of my unworthy blog.

This "non-binding resolution" that Congress is about to vote on is not subject to Presidential veto. Once it is passed (or even considered) it becomes part of history. It will always be accessible through the Library of Congress website for all to see. The Turks are pretty much in denial about everything bad that happened before the new government was formed after World War I. If you read "their" history books, wars were fought, by massacres were "great victories", and genocide is not a word that the Turks want associated with their ancestors. This resolution was designed to piss them off. The hope of Nancy Pelosi is that this will so enrage the Turkish government that they will refuse the US the use of their airspace and the use of Incerlik Air Base, through which 80% of the supplies for the war effort come. The Democrats are too chicken to cut off funding for our troops, but they don't really care about them. If they can get Turkey to cut off supplies for them, they think that this is the way to end the War without having to go through the Executive Branch, or to even put themselves out by cutting off funding. This is actually more ingenious and deceitful than I have given the Democrats credit for in the past ... but the other reason could only be complete stupidity, and though I don't think very highly of the Democrats in Congress, it would be a mistake to consider them stupid. They may do stupid things, but there is always a reason behind them.

The reason that I espoused that the Democrats don't really care about the troops is because if Turkey stopped being a staging point for military supplies, the troops would be hurt. The new MRAPs (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles) are staged and shipped exclusively through Turkey. Re-directing them to Saudi Arabia, the delivery of these life-saving vehicles will be delayed by weeks ... way to look after our troops "grand-ma" Pelosi. This is just another attempt by the Democrats to ensure the failure of this war. From Harry Reid's statement that we have already lost the war, to John Murtha's off-handed remarks that US soldiers are committing war crimes in Iraq (and I'm not even going to mention John Kerry), the Democrats have labeled this as "George Bush's War", and they will do everything in their power to make sure that George Bush loses. If a few more of our troops are sacrificed in the process, I guess they feel it is a justifiable expense (after all, these troops were too stupid to go to college and got stuck in Iraq). Sorry, I guess I will mention John Kerry.

This is unconscionable, and can not be tolerated by the American people. Our troops are our best and bravest, when we denigrate their value, we denigrate all of us. This is not George Bush's war ... This is America's war and part of the larger Global War on Terror. We may have different ideas on how to handle the war, but we must come together when it comes down to winning the war. Politics is becoming a very dirty word in the minds of most Americans. Some are getting so disgusted with politicians that they don't even bother to vote anymore. This is as mistake as how can good willed Americans change anything if they don't become informed and vote.

As for the photo ... I didn't want to ruin my 100th post by having Nancy Pelosi's picture on it. I don't know who the girl in the photo is ... but I think she is much nicer to look at than "Grand-ma" Pelosi.

JUSTICE DELAYED ...

Finally we see justice for the true victims of the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case ... the accused. Reade Seligmann, Collin Finerty and Dave Evans were vindicated yesterday when the last of the charges against them were dismissed. Why it took over a year to come to this is beyond me, and beyond a lot of other citizens too. District Attorney Mike Nifong has much to answer to in this case and though prosecutors have immunity from most litigation and criminal proceedings for things done in the course of their jobs, we can all hope that at the least he will be dis-barred for his actions.

The victims of the travesty were many. First the accused that have been publicly ridiculed for over a year and have had their reputations dragged through the dirt. But there are other, future victims out there. What about all the future "real" rape victims that will now have their stories held with more dubiousness than before? How about tainted jury pools that acquit a rapist because the shadow of prosecutorial misconduct causes them to err on the side of the defendant (and what about this guys' future victims)?

Can anyone tell me why the accuser in this case isn't in jail right now?

DON IMUS

O-kay ... For those of you who have chosen to totally tune out the world this week, Don Imus, radio and TV personality, has been suspended from the air for 2 weeks as punishment for his semi-racist comments about the Rutgers Women's Basketball Program.

His comments were in poor taste to say the least, and if they were uttered by any serious news reporter or politician would definitely be considered racist. But let's look at the source. Before Howard Stern, Imus was the first "Shock Jock". Is anyone really "shocked" that he would say something like this? Imus has made a living out of insulting just about every ethnic and religious group out there and will continue to do so ... I mean if you were being paid millions to make an ass out of yourself, wouldn't you continue to do so?

A consummate actor, Imus went on the Reverend Al Sharptons' radio show and apologized for an hour. I actually started believing him ... till I remembered who he was. Still, Al Sharpton wants Imus fired for his comments.

Reverend Al, c'mon now, the man screwed up, and he apologized. Isn't forgiveness a Christian Value that you espouse? He doesn't need to be fired, if enough people are turned off by his "free speech", it will be reflected in the ratings and he will be gone. Haven't people forgiven you about the Tawana Brawley Hoax that you helped perpetuate? Reverend, someone that you say you admire once said, "He who is without sin cast the first stone".

WAKE UP DEMS

Well the Democrats have been in charge of both Houses of Congress for about three months now and let's review their accomplishments ...

Now that that's done, let's review what they haven't accomplished. Minimum wage legislation is stalled, a supplemental military funding bill is doomed to being vetoed because of an excess of pork and provisions that amount to a coup d'etat of the executive branch's power to conduct war, they have not rolled back subsidies to big oil (though they are trying to add subsidies to peanut and spinach farmers), in fact they have not done anything constructive in their first 100 days ... let alone their first 100 hours.

Nancy Pelosi seems to be more interested in playing Secretary of State instead of Speaker of the House, shuttling between Israel and Syria to deliver important messages that are a complete fabrication of her rather dull imagination.

Democrats, the American people put you in charge for the most part because they were tired of the politics as usual that they were getting from the GOP. So what do you do? You give them the same political bullshit that the Republicans did.

All the American people want is a government that works. That means both parties need to get about the business of the People and stop trying to score political points at every opportunity ... otherwise look out for more wholesale changes in 2008.
